The capacity of EcoFlow Delta Pro

It is the amount of charge stored in the battery.

The more the charge, the longer the battery runs your electrical appliances.

It is measured in kWh.

EcoFlow Delta PRO has a battery capacity of 3.6 kWh.

And don’t worry if you have large energy requirements.

It can expand up to 7 times its base capacity of 3.6 kWh.

You can expand up to 25 kWh, depending on your energy requirements.

Most of the readers might be wondering what electrical appliances can be run with this capacity and for how long.

Let me show you the power ratings of some common electrical gadgets.

  • Phone: 10 watts
  • Laptop: 80 watts
  • LED light: 10 watts
  • Refrigerator: 500 watts
  • Electric Kettle: 1200 watts
  • Electric oven: 2000 watts
  • Air conditioner: 1500 watts
  • Room heater: 1500 watts
  • Electric drill: 1000 watts

If you want to know the number of hours 3.6 kWh Eco Flow PRO can run these electrical gadgets.

Simply, divide its capacity by the power rating of each gadget.

For example:

The ECO FLOW DELTA PRO 3.6 kWh battery can run an electric kettle (1200 watts) for 3 hours (3600 W-h/1200W).

And LED light for 15 days or 360 hours (360 W-h/10 W).

Let us write for other gadgets in a table:

(*The running hours depend on the power rating of the appliances).

Power

In the above section, we discussed the capacity (energy) of ECOFLOW DELTA Pro.

Power is how much energy it can provide in a given time. When I write in a mathematical form, it can be written as:

Power = Energy produced/time

If more energy is produced in a given time, the power is more.

A single ECO FLOW DELTA Pro can produce 3600 watts in 1 hour.

And with its X-boost technology, a single unit can power up to 4500 watts.

You can even add two units together to produce 7200 watts (3600 watts + 35600 watts) ac output.

In short, you can power almost anything with ECO DELTA FLOW Pro.

EcoFlow Delta Pro can power multiple devices at once

When you are planning to move outdoors in your RV.

You can enjoy the weekend picnic with your family enjoying hot coffee, music, lunch, and more.

Because it has the capacity to power these appliances at once.

It has a facility to power up to 15 different devices at once.

Multiple charging methods

People usually think that an inverter-battery system is charged through a grid supply.

But

ECO FLOW DELTA Pro has multiple charging methods.

This makes it even more portable and convenient to use. Let us discuss its different charging methods.

(i) EV station charging

If it is a new term to you then let me explain it first.

An EV charging station is an electric vehicle charging station (just like petrol or diesel fueling stations).

Here, electric vehicles are charged with electricity.

And when you drive an electric vehicle you not only meet your commuting needs but also contribute to preserving the environment.

Because EVs are eco-friendly.

One of the best things about ECO FLOW is that you can also charge it in these charging stations. An AC EV charging station can charge it to full in just 1.7 hours.

(ii) Solar Panel Charging

When anything is related to solar, it becomes my favorite.

Another great feature of ECO FLOW Delta Pro is that you can charge it with Solar.

A 1600 watts solar panel can charge a 3.6 kWh battery in 2.8 to 5.6 hours.

Why there is a variation in the charging time?

Because solar charging depends on many factors. Let us discuss a few important factors.

(a) Sunlight

It is the most important factor that largely determines the size of the solar panel.

Let’s say you are driving an RV in a region that receives very good sunlight.

And you are thinking of powering the electrical gadgets and appliances in your RV with Solar.

You need fewer solar panels to do that than in a place that receives poor sunlight.

In short, good sunlight, and fewer solar panels. LUCRATIVE!

Poor sunlight, more solar panels. EXPENSIVE!

And if you happen to live in a good sunlight region, you have an added advantage of going solar.

(b) Losses in the system

Nobody is 100% efficient.

Similarly, the solar power system has a number of losses before finally giving the output. Let me name a few of them:

  • Shading losses
  • Dirt loss
  • Aging loss
  • Conversion loss
  • Transfer loss
  • Temperature loss and more…

These losses have a cumulative effect of eating up to 30% of the power produced by solar panels.

We need a multiplier to compensate for these losses for sizing the solar panels.

The loss multiplier can be found as:

= 1 / (1-30%)

= 1.42

The formula for sizing the solar panels is:

Solar Panel Size(watts) = Loss multiplier x Battery Capacity/(PSH)

= (1.42 x 3600 w-h)/5.5

(I am assuming the PSH in a region is 5.5)

This gives me a solar panel size of 930 watts.

It means that 930 watts solar panels can charge the battery to 3600 w-h in 1 day (from sunrise to sunset).

We usually see 10 hours of sun in the sky (from sunrise to sunset).

Mathematically, I can say 930 watts of solar panels can provide 3600 w-h energy in 10 hours.

How much time do 1600 watts of solar panels generate this much energy?

Simple,

930 watts x 10 hours = 1600 watts x y hours

y = 5.8 hours.

ECO FLOW Delta claims to charge it with solar with a maximum time of 5.6 hours.

We are fairly near to this.

This charging time can be reduced when the above-mentioned losses are absent or minimized.

Installing solar panels on the roof of your house and charging ECO FLOW DELTA Pro is a good option indeed.

Wall Charging

You can even install the home charging system.

That can charge your ECO FLOW through the grid in just 1.8 hours. One can even charge ECO FLOW from the car outlet to get an extra charge in the case of an emergency.

Battery

The battery is one of the most important components in any inverter-battery system.

It stores the charge and provides you with the current when you need it.

ECO FLOW DELTA Pro has inbuilt ports to connect an extra battery with ease (in case you need more energy). It has LiFePO4 battery chemistry with 6500 cycles to 50% capacity and 3500 cycles to 80% capacity.

What is the battery cycle?

You withdraw current from the battery and use it.

Thereafter, you replenish that amount of current into the battery.

This withdrawing and replenishing current constitutes one battery cycle.

6500 cycles to 50% capacity mean that the battery can provide you with 6500 cycles when you use 50% of the current in the battery and then recharge it to the full.

Similarly, 3500 cycles to 80% capacity give you 3500 useful cycles when you withdraw 80% of the total charge in the battery.

In the first case, we are withdrawing 50% current while in the second case, it is 80% of the total capacity.

The extent of current on can withdraw defines the depth of discharge of the battery.

It is not that you cannot withdraw current beyond this percentage. You can but it affects the useful life of the battery.

Battery Chemistry

Now, coming to its battery chemistry.

It is lithium-iron-phosphate.

These batteries offer many more benefits than conventional lead-acid batteries. The LiFePO4 batteries are:

  • Light-weight
  • Have a longer useful life
  • Very little maintenance
  • Safe to use
  • Effective charge and discharge cycles
  • High efficiency

Although, these are more costly than lead-acid batteries.

But due to their improved efficiency and almost nil maintenance.

They offer fast payback and smart investment decisions..

Also, its advanced battery management system makes operations more secure and safe.

The BMS keeps the battery cool by regulating its voltage, current, and temperature on a real-time basis.

The battery shelf life is 1 year.

Design

The Delta PRO inverter has 4-in built fans to provide proper ventilation and keep it cool during the operation.

Its exterior is made of tough ABS plastic that can easily absorb the shocks while carrying it on a rough surface.

Also, the is fire-resistant too. It is provided with a luggage-like handle and wheels that you use and wheeled around with ease.

Automation

You can easily control, monitor, and automate power consumption remotely using its EcoFlow app.

That you can download it from APP Store or Google Play.

You can even check the power output from the solar panels that are charging the battery.

You can even check the output from each individual port of the unit.
