Rayzon solar panels review

Rayzon solar panels is a Gujarat-based (Indian) solar start-up company.

It was founded in 2017.

It manufactures efficient poly and mono-crystalline solar panels.

They have their manufacturing facility at Surat, Gujarat.

And

Within 4 years, it has expanded its module manufacturing capacity to 300 MW.

Rayzon solar panels efficiency

It manufactures 2 types of solar panels:

  1. Polycrystalline
  2. Monocrystalline

Polycrystalline solar cells are made from fragments of silicon.

While mono-crystalline silicon solar cells are made from the complete wafers of silicon.

This gives uniformity in color, making them durable.

And they are more efficient than polycrystalline ones.

Another side, the manufacturing process of polycrystalline solar panels is less expensive.

Therefore, you see polycrystalline solar panels are cheaper than monocrystalline solar panels.

Polycrystalline solar panels are suitable for people who want an affordable solar solution.

While monocrystalline solar panels work best for people who want to meet their energy needs, having space constraints.

How well do Rayzon solar panels perform at high temperatures?

The performance of any solar panel at high temperatures can be analyzed by its temperature coefficient of power.

It measures the power loss in the solar panel with every degree in its cell temperature beyond 25°C.

It is negative in value that indicates power loss and the units are %/°C.

The power loss can be calculated using the following formula:

Power loss (%) = (cell temperature - 25°C) x temperature coefficient of power

The cell temperature is usually 20°C to 30°C above the ambient temperature.

When I say the ambient (surrounding) temperature is 30°C, the solar cells might be performing at 50°C or 60°C.

The temperature coefficient of power of Rayzon solar panels is -0.397%/°C.

Assuming, the solar cells in 300 watts Rayzon solar panel are performing at 50°C,

The power loss would be:
Power loss (%) = (50°C – 25°C) x -0.397%/°C
Power loss (%) = -9.925%

It will lose 9.925% of its Pmax

Power loss (absolute value) = 300 watts x 9.925%
= 29.775 watts

You will get 300 – 29.775 = 270.225 watts

Strength of Rayzon

Harsh weather conditions such as rain, winds, heat waves, chilled winters put stress on panel panels, testing their strength.

Therefore, solar panels should be strong enough to withstand extreme weather conditions.

The strength of any solar panel is decided by its (i) snow load rating and (ii) wind load rating.

Snow load rating

The strength of the solar panel to withstand snow weight. It is also referred to as front load rating.

They have a snow load rating of 5400 Pa.

Wind load rating

The ability of a panel to withstand wind pressure.

The Rayzon solar panels are strong enough to withstand wind pressures.

They have a wind load rating of 2400 Pa.

Rayzon solar panels warranties

It is an assurance that a manufacturer gives to the buyer to repair or replace the product for any defect in the product within a specified period.

Solar panels have 2 warranties:

Product warranty

It protects your solar panel against any manufacturing defect and premature wear and tears in the solar panel.

Rayzon solar panels come with 10 years product warranty.

Performance warranty

The output of solar panels decreases with time. Therefore, the manufacturer assures that its solar panel will produce a certain percentage of Pmax after a certain time.

Rayzon offers 27 years performance warranty.

(2.5% degradation in the first year and 0.67% decrease in power from 2nd year to 27th year).

Certifications

  • Salt and mist resistant (IEC 61701).
  • Suitable for long term operations in real climates.(IEC  61215).
  • The standard for module safety qualification. (IEC 61730)
  • Performs well in different sunlight and temperatures. (IEC 61853)
  • Ammonia resistant (IEC 62716).
  • PID resistant solar panels (IEC 62804)

Units produced by 5 kW solar panels

Many factors such as sunlight, temperature coefficient of power, shading loss, heat losses, conversion losses affect the performance of the solar power system.

When we consider all the above factors, the 5-kW solar power system will produce  19 units per day.

Price of Rayzon solar panels

The price of a 330-watt poly-crystalline solar panel is Rs. 20.25 per watt.

Pros of Rayzon solar panels

  • It has made its presence felt within a short period and it is growing its product line up to 1.5 GW very soon.
  • Rayzon solar panels are strong and are capable to withstand harsh weather conditions
  • Its ammonia-resistant solar panels for suitable in places where livestock is kept.
  • The Rayzon solar panels are affordable.

Cons

  • It can be a challenge for Rayzon team to serve its customers outside the state because of its limited presence.
  • Limited technology
  • Its temperature coefficient of power is -0.397%/°C. This value is higher when we see other manufacturers such as WaareeVikram, and Adani making solar panels with low a temperature coefficient of power.
